Bejerano House
The Bejerano Family House, which belonged to the owners of the "Asis" factory and the cigarette factory, was inaugurated in 1944. This residence, designed by architect Benjamin Tchlenov, belonged to a group of "hill" family houses. These families were asked to vacate their homes at the time of the War of Independence, so that the General Staff, then in the process of being formed, could be based there, following their search for a refuge away from the "Hagana" organization’s headquarters being bombed in Tel Aviv.
Israel’s first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, lived and worked in this house at the time of the War of Independence. Some of the most fateful strategic decisions concerning the war, fought for the very existence of the state, were made here.
