תכונות: עץ נוי ויער, ירוק עד, מתנשא לגובה עד 20 מ’. עמיד בתנאי יובש. פורח בעונת הקיץ בצבע צהוב-חום. משמש כעץ שדרה, כמשבר רוח וכעץ הסקה.

סיפור: מקור השם בדמיון שבין ענפי העץ לנוצות הקזואר (עוף קרקע גדול החי באוסטרליה). זרעי הקזוארינה הובאו לגן בשלהי שנות ה-80 של המאה ה-19 על ידי גנני הברון רוטשילד.

Name: Casuarina Cunnighamiana-Australian She-Oak

Origin: Australia

Traits: An ornamental and forest tree growing to 20 meters high. It is resilient to dry climates, flowers golden-brown in summer, and is excellent as a windbreaker and for firewood.

The story: The name comes from the similarity between the tree’s branches, and the feathers of cassowary, a large wild Australian bird. Casuarina seeds were brought over from Australia in the 1880s by the Baron’s gardeners.
