מוצא: מפרץ מקסיקו

תכונות: עץ נוי נשיר, מתנשא לגובה של יותר מ- 40 מ’. מוכר בכינויו "ברוש הביצות" - בית הגידול הטבעי של העץ ששורשיו אופקיים ומעגנים אותו בקרקע הביצה או החול. העץ פורח באביב, הפרי הוא אצטרובל כדורי. העץ הוא קרוב משפחה של עץ הסקויה הענקי הגדל בקליפורניה (ארה"ב) ומתנשא לגובה 110 מ’ וקוטרו 12 מ’.

Name: Taxodium Distichum - Bald Cypress

Origin: Gulf of Mexico

Traits: Deciduous conifer reaching heights of 40 meters, it is known by its nickname, "swamp cypress" because its natural habitat is swamp or sand, where it remains upright due to a horizontal root system that helps anchor it in place. Bald Cypresses flower in spring, and produce a ball-like cone. The tree is part of the Giant Sequoia genus which grows to 110 meters, with a 12 meter girth, as found in California, USA.
