שם מדעי : Feijoa sellowiana
שיח ממשפחת ההדסיים. מקור השיח מברזיל. הפיג’ויה הגיע לארץ ישראל ב-1920, בתקופת המנדט הבריטי. השיח פורח בצבעי סגול ואדום מרהיבים בחודשים אפריל-מאי וקטיף הפרי בחודשים אוקטובר-דצמבר. קליפת הפרי ירוקה והפרי עצמו צבעו לבן.

Feijoa
Scientific name: Feijoa sellowiana
A bush from the myrtle (Myrtaceae) family. The source of the bush is from Brazil. The Feijoa arrived in Israel in 1920, during the British Mandate. The shrub blooms in spectacular purple and red colors in April-May and the fruit is picked in October-December. The skin of the fruit is green and the fruit itself is white.
