עץ ממשפחת האבניים. מקור העץ בדרום מזרח סין. עצי האפרסמון הראשונים הובאו לישראל בראשית המאה ה-20, אבל רק לאחר 1948 הוחל בגידול מסחרי שלו, בסתיו, בעונת השלכת, ניתן לראות את עלי העץ בשלל צבעים. העץ פורח באביב ואת פירותיו, הכתומים פחוסים, קוטפים בסוף הסתיו.
