שני מסוקי יסעור ובהם 73 לוחמים וצוותי אויר
התנגשו מעל אתר זה. השעה היתה 18:59 - שניות ספורות לפני שחצו את הגבול ללבנון.
המסוקים שהמריאו מבסיס מחניים במזג אוויר סוער וגשום, היו בדרכם למוצבי ה"בופוור" ו"דלעת" שברצועת הבטחון בלבנון.
מסוק ה"בופור" נפל כאן בתוך הפלג הסמוך, המסוק ל"דלעת" נפל בין בתי שאר ישוב.
כל 73 הלוחמים שהתנדבו לשרת במקום המסוכן ביותר נהרגו במקום.
הלם וזעזוע עמוק פשטו בארץ בהיוודע דבר האסון הכבד ביותר שידעו צה"ל והמדינה מעולם. יום אבל לאומי הוכרז במדינה. הציבור הישראלי כולו התאבל על נפילת חבורה מופלאה זו של לוחמים.
חללי אסון המסוקים היוו חתך אמיתי של כל גוני החברה הישראלית - יהודים דרוזים ובדואים, מכל חלקי הארץ.
אתר זה הוקם ביוזמת משפחות הנופלים, כדי להנציח את זכרם של יקירנו שיצאו להגן על יישובי הצפון ומסרו את נפשם למען מדינת ישראל.

The site was established at the site of the crash of the two "Yas’ur" (Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion) helicopters that collided at that location.

The site has 73 rocks as the number of soldiers who perished in the disaster.
