נחל דן הוא הגדול והחשוב שבמקורות הירדן. מעיינותיו ניזונים משלג וגשם היורדים בחרמון, ושופעים מים בכל ימות השנה.
בזכות שפע המים, תנאי הסביבה והמיקום הגיאוגרפי, התפתחה בשמורה צמחייה עשירה וסבוכה היוצרת "מנהרות צל" ופינות חמד, ומושכת אליה בעלי חיים ממינים שונים.
בתל דן, המתנשא מעל למעיינות, נחשפו חומות אדירות ושערים של דן המקראית, וכן אתרי פולחן מימי מלכות ישראל. בעקבות החפירות הארכיאולוגיות שוחזר ה תל בשנת 1994, הותוו בו שבילים והוצבו בו שלטי הסבר ואמצעי המחשה. פקחי השמורה ישמחו להנחות בסיורכם בשמורה ולהשיב על שאלותיכם. הישמעו להוראותיהם.
בקיץ נסגרת השמורה בשעה 17:00 והכניסה אליה מותרת עד השעה 16:00. בחורף נסגרת השמורה בשעה 16:00 והכניסה אליה מותרת עד השעה 15:00. בימי שישי ובערבי חג נסגרת השמורה שעה אחת מוקדם יותר.

TEL DAN NATURE RESERVE
Welcome!
The Dan stream is the most significant of the three sources of the Jordan River. Spring water is plentiful year-round, fed by the rain and snow that fall on Mt. Hermon.
Due to the abundance of water, the favorable environmental conditions and the geographic location, vegetation has grown rich and thick in the reserve, creating tunnels of shade and lovely spots where animals of various species are found.
At Tel Dan, remnants of great walls and gates of Biblical Dan were uncovered, as well as sites of worship from the days of the Israelite kingdom. Following the archaeological excavations, the site was reconstructed in 1994. Trails have been made and explanatory signs have been posted.
The rangers will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
The reserve closes at 5 PM in summer, and 4 PM in winter. Entrance to the reserve is permitted up to one hour before closing. On Fridays and eves of holidays, the reserve closes one hour earlier.
