בבית זה, ששימש את פקידי הברון רוטשילד הבכירים ולאחר מכן את מנהלי בית הספר העממי במושבה, התגוררה משפחת אלופי בשנים 1956-1950.
פרץ אלופי (1988-1904) היה מורה ומנהל אהוב בבית הספר העממי במושבה, איש אשכולות וציוני נלהב, אשר נטע בלב תלמידיו הרבים ידע בצד מידות טובות. אלופי היה מומחה ללשון העברית ולתנ"ך ולצד פעילותו החינוכית עסק גם בפעילות ציבורית. שני בניהם של פרץ ולאה אלופי נפלו במהלך שירותם הצבאי. עמירם, צעיר הבנים, נהרג ב-21 במרץ 1956 בעת מילוי תפקידו. בן 19 במותו.
אלישע, הבן הבכור, התגייס למילואים עם פרוץ המערכה בסיני (מבצע קדש) ונפל בקרב באבו עגילה ב-2 בנובמבר 1956, כשמונה חודשים לאחר נפילת אחיו הצעיר. בן 24 במותו.
לאחר נפילת הבנים עברו פרץ, רעייתו לאה ובתם הצעירה זהבה להתגורר בירושלים, שם שימש פרץ מנהל בית הספר העממי למל עד יציאתו לגמלאות.

This house, which was used by Baron’s de Rothschild’s senior officials and afterwards by the principals of the village’s Elementary School, was the home of Peretz and Lea Alufi and their children, Elisha, Amiram and Zehava.
Peretz Alufi (1904-1988) was a highly respected and loved educational figure in Zichron Ya’akov.
He was the principal of the Elementary School in the village from 1950 until 1956, and an expert in the Hebrew language and the Bible studies.
The two sons of Peretz and Lea Alufi fell in the course of their military service.
Amiram, their youngest son, was killed during the course of his service on March 21, 1956. He was 19.
Elisha, the eldest son, was killed in action during the Sinai War on November 2, 1956 nearly eight months after the death of his younger brother. He was 24.
After the death of their sons, Peretz, Lea and their youngest daughter Zehava moved to Jerusalem, where Peretz fulfilled the function of principal of the Lemel Elementary School until his retirement.
