Lodzia workers’ houses
The first two houses on Weitzman St., numbered 1 and 3, were intended for the residences of the workers of the Lodzia textile factory, which stood nearby, on Shenkar St. corner Sokolov (today - the Tzamarat and Garden building).
The cornerstone for the houses, the construction of which was partially financed by Aryeh Shenkar, the factory manager, was laid on November 7, 1946.
The president of KKL (JNF), Avraham Granovsky (Granot), who was unable to attend, sent a congratulatory telegram: "My best congratulations for the laying of the cornerstone for the Lodzia workers’ houses." You will get to build houses for the people in abundance, on the land of the people."
