שוק הרצל - כיכר אלוף בצלות | Hertzel Market - Aluf Batslut sqr

סמטת אלוף בצלות נקראה על שם המקאמה ההומוריסטית "אלוף בצלות ואלוף שום", שכתב ביאליק. השוק שוכן בתוך מרקם אורבני של שכונת מרכז מסחרי שתוכננה כרשת של רחובות אורתוגונליים ע"י אדריכל יוסף טישלר בשנת 1921-1922. המתחם תוכנן במקור כשוק המוגדר על ידי שתי שורות של מבנים בסגנון אקלקטי משני צדדיו, במרס החצר הרחבה עמדו עגלות ודוכנים של השוק. אלמנטים אדריכליים ייחודיים למבנה : כניסה מוגדרת ע"י סימטריה - שני מבנים עם פינה קסומה, בינוי רציף בקו אפס בסגנון עיר אירופאית, גגונים זיזיים ועמודים מובלטים ממישור הקיר לשם הקישוט - בתרגום לשפה מודרנית.

Aluf Batslut Alley, named after Bialik’s Rymed prose "Aluf Batzalot VeAluf Shum", is situated in the urban setting of an industrial center. Its’ street plan was laid out in an orthogonal network fashion by the architect Joseph Tishler, between the years 1921-1922. Originally, the area was planned as a market place, Defined by a wide courtyard, filled with vendors and carriages, with two rows of eclectic structures on both sides. Distinguishing architectural elements are: A symmetrically defined entryway- two-structures with truncated-corners, A zero lot line continuous structure in the style of a european city, Gable roofs and ornamental columns extending from the forefront walls - in a modern interpretation.
