זהו ביתם ההיסטורי של מאיר וצינה דיזנגוף, אחד מבתיה הראשונים של אחוזת בית. בשנות ה-30, אחרי מות צינה, הסב דיזנגוף חלק מהבית לצורך הקמת מוזיאון תל-אביב לאמנות.

ביום שישי, ה’ באייר תש"ח (14.5.1948), התכנסו ראשי היישוב באולם המוזיאון לטקס הכרזת העצמאות ההיסטורי.

ההכרזה, שנמשכה מעט יותר מ-30 דקות, הסתיימה בצלילי "התקווה" שניגנה התזמורת הפילהרמונית, שבשל צפיפות התמקמה בקומה שמעל.

בית העצמאות שימש בחודשי המדינה הראשונים גם את מועצת המדינה הזמנית שהתכנסה בו במקביל לקרבות מלחמת העצמאות.

Independence Hall
This is the historic home of Meir and Zina Dizengoff. Following Zina’s death in the 1930’s, Dizengoff converted it into the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. On Friday, May 14, 1948, the heads of the Jewish community gathered in the museum hall for the historic declaration of the establishment of the State of Israel. The ceremony, which lasted for about 30 minutes, ended with the national anthem - Hatikva - played by the Philharmonic Orchestra from the floor above because there was no room in the hall itself. In the first months of the State of Israel, Independence Hall was also home to the Provisional State Council, which convened there while the battles of the War of Independence were still raging.

بيت الاستقلال
هذا هو المنزل التاريخي لمثير ديزنغوف وقرينته تسينا ، الذي حوّله ديزنغوف خلال الثلاثينيات من القرن العشرين وبعد وفاة تشينا إلى متحف تل أبيب للفنون . وفي يوم الجمعة الموافق ال 14 . 5 . 1948 اجتمع قادة المجتمع اليهودي في قاعة المتحف بمناسبة مراسم إعلان الاستقلال التاريخية . بحيث أختتم الإعلان الذي دام 30 دقيقة ونيف بأنغام نشيد " هتكفا " الذي عزفته الأوركسترا ’ الإسرائيلية من الطابق العلوي بسبب الازدحام الذي ساد القاعة ذاتها . وقد تم استعمال بيت الاستقلال خلال الأشهر الأولى بعد قيام الدولة كذلك من قبل مجلس الدولة الانتقالي الذي عقد اجتماعاته فيه بالتزامن مع نشوب معارك حرب الاستقلال .

At first the house was only one storey with a tiled roof. In the design of the architect Dov Hershkowitz, rooms and a roof floor were added to the house.
In 1933 the house was converted into a museum designed by architect Carl Rubin.
