This amphibious armored personnel carrier (APC) was produced in Czechoslovakia and Poland in the 1960’s. It is based on the Soviet BTR-50 APC and differs in several minor components, such as side doors and an engine with a turbocharger. The vehicle was supplied to many countries, including Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Iran. It was captured from the Syrian and Egyptian armies, during the Yom Kippur War, and entered service within the IDF’s 440th Division, which based itself on captured Soviet armored fighting vehicles (AFV’s).
