במקום זה שכנו משרדי מחלקת העליה של השלטון הבריטי, שהפעילו את גזרות הספר הלבן ןלמניעת עליה והצלת יהודים מאירופה. ביום י"ח בשבט תש"ד (12.2.1944) פוצצו לוחמי האצ"ל את הבניין.

Here were located the offices of the British department of immigration, which was responsible for implementing the White Paper restricting the immigration of Jews to Palestine.
The I.Z.L. bombed the büilding on February 12, 1944.
