סוג זה של כותרות נמצא באמצע העבודה ולפני הגימור, ובעת העתיקה הסתפקו לעתים בשלב זה. הכותרת הונחה בראש עמוד ונשאה את מערכת הקורות (אֶנְטַבְּלַטוּרָה) של התקרה והגג.

THIS UNFINISHED IONIC CAPITAL PRESERVES THE VOLUTE (SCROLL-LIKE) STYLE.
WORK WAS STILL UNDERWAY ON THIS TYPE OF CAPITAL; THE FINISHING TOUCHES HAD NOT YET BEEN APPLIED AND IN ANTIQUITY PEOPLE SOMETIMES MADE DO WITH IT AS IT WAS.
PLACED ATOP A COLUMN, IT BORE THE CEILING AND ROOF BEAMS (ENTABLATURE).
THIS CAPITAL IS DIFFICULT TO DATE BECAUSE IT LACKS ARTISTIC DETAILS.
