On the sign:

River Red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis)
Originating in Australia, these trees were brought to Israel and planted in wetlands due to their reputation as "swamp dryers". However, it became clear over time that, while able to withstand flooding, these trees were not large-scale water consumer and, therefore, inefficient for drying swamps.
Eucalyptus leaves emit a unique aroma due to the essential oil they contain, which is added to various cosmetic products, candies and medical preparations. Eucalyptus honey is famous, for its quality; beekeepers often place their hives near stands of eucalyptus trees.
