השם arborvitae פירוש "עץ החיים". זה שמו של אחד העצים בגן עדן. לא ידוע אם הכוונה בתנ"ך היא אמנם לעץ זה.

[The Answer to the question]
Arborvitae is Latin for "tree of life" (Hebrew: "etz hayim"), the name of one of the trees in the Garden of Eden. It’s not known whether this species is intended by the Biblical text.
