תפוצה טבעית: מזרח ומרכז ארה"ב

חשבתם לרגע שיורד כאן שלג בתחילת האביב? כמובן שלא. זרעי הצפצפה הלבנים, עטופים בגושי פרווה לבנים, נשאים ברוח ונדמים לנו כשלג. שמו המדעי של העץ (deloides) נובע מעליו בעלי צורה משולשת כדמות האות היוונית דלתה.

Natural range: Eastern and Central USA

Does it snow here early each spring? No, it’s these female poplars’ tiny seeds, each embedded in a bit of white cottony fluff, sailing on the wind. The scientific name, from "delta" (triangle), refers to the leaf shape.
