THE GLASS HOUSE
The Glass House, built during the years 1938-1941, was designed by Architect Theodore Mankes as an apartments building for British and American engineers who came to work in Haifa’s refineries. It is considered one of the most unique and original architectural creations of the international Bauhaus style in the country.
Its original and noval design included the use of glass bricks to enable clear, bright natural light to penetrate as well as areas for common use: a swimming pool in the yard and a tennis court on the roof.
The Glass House is remarkable until this very day for its original design.
