The M-50 Sherman is an IDF upgrade of the American M-4 tank, as a response to the newly acquired Soviet T-34 tanks by the Egyptian Army prior to the Sinaí Campaign. The upgrade consisted of the installment of French 75 mm guns, and consequently, a Diesel engine. These tanks participated in the Sinai Campaign, in the battle over the Rueifa Dam under the command of Moshe Brill. Later on, the M-50 Shermans took part in the Six Day War and in the Yom-Kippur War.
