: Squeezing device beam and screw
At the end of the Roman period (3rd century AD) beams and screw presses as well as direct pressure screw presses came into "industrial" use in the oil mill. In the beam and screw press, the beam pressure was applied to the baskets by means of a wooden screw, which replaced the weights in the beam press. In this press, the beam is anchored in a niche in the wall or by means of Pilasters.
