White Mulberry
Morus alba

Natural range: Southern China

Silk moth caterpillars, whose cocoons give us silk cloth, eat this species’ leaves. All the mulberry trees that you can see from here are males; thus they produce no fruits. This special garden variety features branches of unusual shape.

הדמיון בין עצי תות אלו נובע מזהות החומר התורשתי. השוני יכול לנבוע מתנאים סביבתיים שונים, כגון: שמש, צל, מים, גיזום ע"י גננים.

Any similarities you find among these mulberry trees no doubt come from their genes. Differences can come from different conditions of environment - sunlight, shade, water, pruning by gardeners, etc.
