תפוצה טבעית: הים התיכון המזרחי עד אירן, ישראל

מערבולת של צבעים: פרחים ורודים-סגולים מקשטים את הגזע והענפים חסרי העלים בתחילת האביב . כאשר הפרחים נובלים ונושרים מופיעים עלים שצבעם ירוק עז צבע תרמילי הזרעים משתנה מאדום לחום והם נשארים הרבה אחרי שהעלים מצהיבים ונושרים בסתיו.

Redbud (Judas Tree)
Cercis siliquastrum

Natural range: Eastern Mediterranean, Iran, Israel

A whirlwind of color: Pink-violet flowers cloak the leafless early-spring branches and trunk. Flowers then wither and fall as deep green leaves appear. Bright red seed pods turn brown and hang on, long after autumn leaves turn yellow and drop.

[The Answer to the question]
Most visitors would agree that both the blooming redbud and the nearby Moore sculpture greatly enhance the campus. Something to think about: Compare how each of these two objects relates spatially to its immediate surroundings.

Tree No. 22 in the Mac and Tibby Podel Discovery Tree Walk, located on the Edmond J. Safra Campus of the Hebrew University of Givat Ram.
