תפוצה טבעית: צפון-מערב אפריקה, ספרד

קל לזהותו: לאצטרובליו הנקביים ארבעה קשקשים; מכאן גם שמו, בלטינית tetra פירושן ארבע. האצטרובלים שצבעם כחלחל הופכים לחומים ואז נפתחים ומשחררים זרעים מכונפים המופצים ברוח. עץ ממשפחת הברושיים.

Tetraclinis articulata

Natural range: N.W. Africa, Spain

Easily recognized by its four-scaled female cones ("tetra" = four). Initially bluish, these cones turn brown, then open to release winged seeds to the wind. A member of the cypress family.

Each white spot inside one of these cones marks the place where a seed was anchored, before it sailed on the wind.
