ענפיו השטוחים של מין זה (הדומים לארז הלבנון, עץ מס. 71 (צ"ל 17) Click for sign's details) שמוטים יותר כלפי מטה. כיום, תפוצתם הטבעית של מיני הארז מוגבלת והם מרוחקים זה מזה. כנראה שבעבר הרחוק תפוצתם השתרעה בעולם על פני שטחים רצופים והרבה יותר גדולים.

Natural range: Morocco’s Atlas Mountains

These flat branches, though resembling those of the Lebanon cedar (tree 17 Click for sign's details), droop more at their tips. Each species of cedar now occupies a small, widely separated natural range. Probably, though, they once ranged broadly, overlapping one another.
