This exhibit is based on the U.S. Patton M48A5 tank, which entered service and was upgraded in the IDF to be named Magach 5. The exhibit was made possible by the IDF’s Central Tank Depot. It offers a view of the interior of the tank: on top, the turret; at the bottom, the hull. The four crew members are visible, the loader and driver, on the left; the gunner and commander, on the right. Note the weapon systems in the turret and the engine and transmission in the rear.

This tank was fitted with reactive armor to protect against anti-tank weapons, as can be seen in the following plate:

Reactive Armor against Anti-Tank missiles, based on cassettes which consist of steal plates and an explosive layer in between. Upon hitting. the penetration capability of the missile through the tank wall is eliminated and the tank crew survive.
